Choosing The Best French Drain System For You

We have a drainage options that can be customized to suit any basement waterproofing needs your home may have. Whether you have thick, monolithic floors, thin floors, leaking staircases, or a more unusual problem such as iron ochre in your groundwater, we have the solution.

We offer our customers the following five French drain systems:

The WaterGuard® basement drain system.

WaterGuard® Below-Floor Basement Drain

More often than not, your local Basement Systems Dealer will recommend our popular WaterGuard® Basement Drain.

This drain system installs below your basement floor and on top of your foundation's footing. During installation, we remove a section of floor around the perimeter and create a drainage trench. A bed of clean crushed stone is poured, and the drain is installed on top. Then the floor is restored for a clean, professional look.

The WaterGuard® System includes a wall flange that extends 3/8" above the floor, allowing the drain to collect water from the basement walls.

DryTrak® baseboard drain pipe

DryTrak® Baseboard Drain Pipe

Most foundations are built in three pieces: the floor, the foundation's footing, and the walls. If your floor has monolithic floors, then the floor and footing are one piece, creating a two-piece construction.

Monolithic floors are extremely thick around the perimeter: jackhammering the floor is extremely time-consuming and generates a lot of dust.

Instead, we recommend installing the DryTrak® Baseboard Drain Pipe System. This drain system installs above the basement floor, eliminating the dust and labor of jackhammering, with a system that includes a lifetime written warranty.

The FlowGuard thin floor weeping tile system

FlowGuard® Thin Floor Weeping Tile

Some concrete slab floors are very thin! In these cases, installing a bulky drain such as WaterGuard® would be impossible, as it would stick up past the concrete slab.

At Basement Systems, our dealers address this challenge by installing the FlowGuard Thin Floor System. This drainage system is very thin, and can be tucked underneath even a thin slab floor, directing water to your sump pump system.

Like many of our other drain systems, FlowGuard includes a wall flange that extends upwards on the basement wall. This allows your system to collect water leaking from the walls as well, which is directed to your sump pump.

The WaterGuard® IOS (Iron Ochre System) Drain Tile

WaterGuard® IOS Drain Tile (Iron Ochre)

Iron ochre is a thick, gelatinous, rust-colored substance that's created when iron bacteria is present in your groundwater. Aside from smelling terrible and staining nearly anything it touches, iron ochre will quickly clog a basement drain system.

At Basement Systems, we tackle this unique problem with our WaterGuard® IOS Basement Drain. This product incorporates a wide drain channel and large openings for groundwater to flow in. This drain system also includes a removable lid for ease of servicing.

Like our WaterGuard® and FlowGuard systems, a wall flange also extends upwards to collect water from the walls.

The TrenchDrain Grated Drainage Pipe System

TrenchDrain™ Grated Drainage Pipe

From time to time, our dealers will meet with homeowners who are concerned about water flowing into their basement through their hatchway entrances, from underneath a door leading into a garage, or under a door leading outside of the home.

In this case, our dealers will often recommend installing a section of our TrenchDrain Grated Drainage Pipe, running it across the span where water is intruding.

The grated opening of this system is designed to accept water from the floor, where it's then directed to your perimeter drain and sump pump system.
