Sump Pump Check Valve

The sump pump check valve is an important part of the system. The check valve keeps the water that is still in the discharge line from re-entering the sump pump basin once the pump shuts off.

So if you have eight feet of 1.5-inch-diameter pipe leading straight up from your sump pump before it bends to 90 degrees, and you have no check valve in place, then when the pump shuts off after emptying the sump pit all the water in the eight feet of pipe (about a 1/2 gallon) would wash back into the sump pit. This adds to the wear and tear of a sump pump over time as it causes the pump to work twice pumping out this additional 1/2 gallon of water per pumping cycle.

The sump pump check valve comes standard in every sump pump installation of the SuperSump® and TripleSafe sump pump systems.
